PDM SWUG: User Permissions and Security

Robert Frost once wrote that fences make good neighbors.  But some neighbors don’t understand that walls help the whole group work together better.  CAD and PLM admins work hard to set up workflows to protect users from accidents…or even from themselves.  Our workflows allow users to avoid pitfalls or accidental misconfigurations as they design their parts and assemblies.

PDM User Permissions and Workflows

But even with all of our hard work, a resourceful user seeking a way around those boundaries can sometimes find a way.  This is a common issue that we see in PDM environments everywhere.  It is therapeutic to share our horror stories…but what if there were practical ways that you could prevent these issues?

Have you ever had a user who discovered a way to circumvent all of your workflows or protocols?  Someone who actively seeks a way to game or cheat the system?

Join Us For This Important Discussion

Please join us for a PDM SWUGs: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner! (and maybe a midnight snack). This will be an open discussion regarding different ways your users “cheat” or “circumvent” the system and what to do about it.  We will discuss various strategies administrators and organizations employ to address such challenges. Sharing strategies and insights could be helpful to all of us in the PDM Admin “silo”.

Agenda (EST):
